Critical Care Nurses work within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital. They treat and monitor patients who are seriously ill, in an unstable condition or require mechanical support due to non-functioning or failing organs. Patients can be of any age, from paediatric upwards.
Critical Care Nurses are generally assigned one to two patients and will closely monitor these patients for signs of improvement or deterioration until they are well enough to be moved to a high dependency or general ward.
