A&E nurses will care for patients and ensure they’re comfortable throughout their time in the emergency department, right up until they’re discharged or moved to a different ward. Some of the typical responsibilities of an A&E nurse might include, but are not limited to, these duties:
- Responsible for maintaining standards of care

Assist with checking patients in, doing triage work for doctors

Work closely with doctors to keep patients and their family members updated on test results or treatment recommendations

Make arrangements for patients deemed to need admitting to the hospital for one night or longer

Build relationships with, reassuring, listening and talking to patients

Administer medication

Maintain patient records
